As I said in my review of the first book, this series is super addicting. I can’t believe how quickly I managed to read ‘Flawless’, every chapter seemed to take two minutes to digest. Is that a good thing? Hmm…
I’m still having trouble relating to characters that are so self-obsessed and selfish. Spencer is probably my favourite girl, but I think Emily is the sweetest and easiest to like.
I was also expecting more of friendship dynamic to build between the girls, but that’s still missing. I’m not worried, because there’s still fourteen books to go. Still, I’d like the girls to confide in each other about A’s texts, and start working together to help solve the mystery. The way walls are building between Hanna and Aria worry me.
Finding out more about The Jenna Thing kind of freaked me out. The whole situation escalated very quickly. I just can’t believe girls in the seventh grade are capable of such deeds! And the tension that build between Emily and Toby had me biting my nails raw, it gave me such an uneasy feeling.
I have a hunch these books are just going to get darker and darker as they go. I look forward to that progression, because Sara Shepard has an excellent ability to make me feel slightly scared for the future of her characters.
NOTE: Bee and I started watching the TV show, and so far I LOVE IT SO MUCH. It’s making me want to read the books less, because I prefer the events of the show more than what’s going on in the book. I’ll continue both, but will always ship my girl Spencer with Toby. And Caleb is definitely missing in Hanna’s life. I hope an equivalent appears soon! If you’re not interested in reading the books, I would highly recommend the show as an alternative, I’m so addicted, it’s probably unhealthy.
The books get a lot better!! Hanna’s eventual romance in the books is a great alternative for Caleb in my opinion! 🙂
