The premise made this book sound super duper interesting. Girl can see the deaths of others? Bring it on. Crazy murderer on the loose? I’ll give it a go. Completely cliched romance that pops out of nowhere and characters with little personality or development? Eh, maybe not. I was so ready for this book to be exciting and thrilling, but it turned out that the only original part of this book was the chapters from the killer’s perspective – which were gross and creepy, and kind of uncomfortable to read. I was looking forward to read something by this author as I’ve been meaning to look into the Wicked Lovely series. Now I’m not so sure.

This. Book. Was. Incredible.
If you have no idea what to read, but want something incredibly REAL then you need to pick up Solitaire straight away, because it will have you on the edge of your seat and probably spread-eagle on your bed contemplating your life. This book was a true gem and it really deserves so much more hype than it’s received. I absolutely loved it, and I can imagine myself  re-reading this again and again, it really has become one of my favourites. Here’s why:

Emerald Green is the final book in the Girl About Time / Ruby Red trilogy, and that means my expectations were quite high! Although I enjoyed Ruby Red , I thought the sequel was better, and on this projection I was hoping Emerald Green was going to be even better! I wouldn’t say I was disappointed with the ending, because there was plenty of plot twists, but at over 400 pages this book is significantly longer than the others, which made it very slow paced. Therefore, it read as less action packed than it actually was.

Homecoming is the final book in The 100 trilogy – or at least, I assume it’s a trilogy. I was interested to see how this series wrapped up, but I wasn’t very invested in any of the characters’ stories to really care about what happened to them. The relationships that these characters have are basically all built on lies, but thank goodness, because everyone is just so forgiving. *rolls eyes* This book wrapped up everyone’s story lines in a cute pink bow, but what I really want to know if what happens next! I guess I’ll just have to watch the TV show and see what changes are made.

I was expecting a lot for Cress. 550 pages? I could do this! Except…I couldn’t. Cress put me in one of the longest reading slumps. It took me over a week to read, which is strange since I normally manage to finish a book every two or three days. I think I struggled with this story because Maddie had hyped it up so much (it’s one of her favourite books of all time!) so of course I was under quite a bit of pressure to enjoy the story. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it! But the middle was rather slow and I was sad that the characters didn’t become a proper team until the very end! I read Cinder quite a while ago, and Maddie had been encouraging me to continue the series for ages, so I thought it was about time I did! She’s always said that Scarlet and Wolf were her least favourite pairing, but let me tell you they were my FAVOURITE. They have all the elements that I love in a good YA romance, so yay! Just when you think there is no possible way that this series could get any better, it does! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Richelle Mead really does know how to build a series. I’ve grown to love Sydney, but of course I love Adrian ever more! The witchy-magic element is so interesting, and the cliffhanger has got be begging for The Fiery Heart!

Contrary to the majority, I actually enjoyed Pivot Point more, although this book really did tie up all the loose ends of the series I felt that it was kind of tedious, and certainly not as gripping as the first book. I think the addition of Laila’s voice added to the story, but the differing perspectives weren’t as enjoyable, for me anyway, as the two different voices of Addie that made Pivot Point so original.

I’m really beginning to get into this series, I somehow manages to read The Golden Lily in two sittings and I’m desperate to know what’s going to happen next. Sydney is a really interesting narrator, and luckily I got just what I thought was missing for Bloodlines -more humour!

I have started and completed this series in the space of four days, and now that it’s over I can feel the post-series depression settling in. Legend was my first 5 star review of the year, and now when anybody asks me what my favourite books are this series will definitely be in the roll-call. Champion was a bittersweet ending to this incredible series.
