Least Favourite Books of 2016!

Normally, we compile a list of our favourite books of the year but last year we saw a lot of people doing ‘Best AND Worst’ videos, so we thought we would separate the two. Maddie and I also usually do a ‘Series We Won’t Complete’ and ‘Books We Regret Reading’ video, but this year we just combined them all into one!

Series: The Dream Thieves (#2) | Blue Lily, Lily Blue (#3)

The Raven Boys is one of those seriously popular books that I still haven’t read. Maddie has read the first three books and now with the recent(ish) release of the season finale, I feel a lot of people are talking about it again. So, I decided to pick it up, mainly because the idea of psychics really drew me in as I’m writing a sort of magical-realism witch story at the moment. As I was reading I kept thinking ‘Oh gosh I’ve got another three of these to go.’ Then, I realised I could just abandon the series even if I couldn’t DNF the book. I mean, everyone told me that nothing really happens but I wasn’t entirely sure to what extent nothing happens. And let me to you: Nothing Happens. (apart from right at the very end when it’s like whaaaat? I’ve skim read too much by now, how did we get here? I’ll have to fill in the blanks myself.)

Last Chance TBR

Collage 1 Collage 2
As December is upon us, this is our last chance to read any books that have been dangling on the end of our to-be-read list, hoping to be finished before the end of the year. In order to wipe the slate clean, and begin a new in 2016, above and below are the books we want to read this month! Some acclaimed stand alones, some series endings, beginnings and middles, contemporary, fantasy, dystopian. Fingers crossed we finish them all!

For once with this series, I feel I know what’s going on! I decided to pick up ‘Blue Lily, Lily Blue’ quickly after ‘The Dream Thieves’ so the plot didn’t go missing while my head was filled with so many other stories.

It’s been nearly a full year since I read ‘The Raven Boys’…so I was a little bit ‘thrown in at the deep end’ when it came to understanding what was going on in this book. I couldn’t really pinpoint the ending of ‘The Raven Boys’ in order to get my bearings, but I think I did a pretty good job of understanding it all in the end.

This book focuses on Ronan, hence why he’s on the cover. I’d forgotten that he had a raven called Chainsaw, so when he was talking to it, I thought he was talking to an actual chainsaw and that he’d gone crazy. Turns out, I wasn’t that far off. Ronan has a super power. He can make things from dreams become a reality, like a Camaro, whatever that is.
