Yes! I can finally finish the Glass series! I’ve had these books on my shelves literally for years, and I kinda wish I hadn’t put them off! Opal went through a massive change in personality in the previous book so it was interesting to see where she was going to end up. I think I enjoyed this book the most out of the series, surprisingly, because it had everything I needed! In my previous review I made comments about needing Valek, Pazia and more on the Bloodrose clan, and Maria certainly delivered!

‘Fractured’ was a totally wild read. Even though I read ‘Slated’ last year, the content was still burning in my memory. It was an excellent start to a series, and definitely one with a lot of scope for a sequel. ‘Fractured’ did not disappoint, neither did it follow the cliche of being worse than the first book! Hurrah!
In this book, we follow Kyla as she searched for answers about her past, present and future, with non stop action and lots of big reveals that made my jaw drop.

After the ending of Storm Glass there was no way that I couldn’t continue with this series straight away! I absolutely loved Opal’s character development. She REALLY came into her own and decided that no one was going to boss her around anymore, however she was still relatively powerless and still used as a pawn. I have NO IDEA where this series is going to go after the end, because Opal’s going to have to face a whole new bunch of challenges that Sitia has never seen before.

The reason I decided to pick up this book was because my mum recommended it. She’d been listening to the radio and heard it being mentioned, and, nowing how much I (strangely) love to read books about bereavement, thought it would be a good read. Here’s some advice folks: always trust your mother.

There is no doubt that this was an epic finale to a trilogy. Yelena really did come in to her own, and harness the power she possessed since ‘Poison Study’. However, I must admit that ‘Fire Study’ was my least favourite of the series, even though it was still excellent and to say ‘least favourite’ makes it sound a lot worse! I’ve had this series sat on my shelves for a ridiculously long time, and I’ve been mostly afraid to pick it up because of the length! I don’t think my hiatus from Ixia and Sitia hindered my enjoyment, even though I’d forgotten who Kade was. (Oops!) The Glass series takes place four years after the end of Fire Study, but instead of following Yelena this series revolved around Opal, the Glass Magician.

The sequel to the epic ‘Poison Study’ is just as jam-packed with action and adventure, as Yelena continues her quest to harness the magic she possesses, whilst hunting down a criminal rogue who steals souls in the night. I was very surprised to give ‘Magic Study’ 4 stars, as it’s often the case that sequels decrease in quality compared to the debut. However, ‘Magic Study’ completely defies this stereotype and makes this series even more worth reading! Continue reading “Review: Magic Study by Maria V Snyder”

The premise made this book sound super duper interesting. Girl can see the deaths of others? Bring it on. Crazy murderer on the loose? I’ll give it a go. Completely cliched romance that pops out of nowhere and characters with little personality or development? Eh, maybe not. I was so ready for this book to be exciting and thrilling, but it turned out that the only original part of this book was the chapters from the killer’s perspective – which were gross and creepy, and kind of uncomfortable to read. I was looking forward to read something by this author as I’ve been meaning to look into the Wicked Lovely series. Now I’m not so sure.

If you watch our videos, you probably know that Bee absolutely adores ‘The Chronicles of Ixia’ series and will happily call Yelena from the ‘Poison Study’ quartet her favourite female character. So, I thought it was about time that I saw what all the fuss was about. Boy, was I pleased with the result! ‘Poison Study’ is unlike anything I’ve ever read. Usually, when I’m reading a book, I notice multiple similarities with something else. I think it helps that I haven’t read much of the high fantasy genre, but after this, I’ve very excited to read more of Bee’s favourite books! This. Book. Was. Incredible.
If you have no idea what to read, but want something incredibly REAL then you need to pick up Solitaire straight away, because it will have you on the edge of your seat and probably spread-eagle on your bed contemplating your life. This book was a true gem and it really deserves so much more hype than it’s received. I absolutely loved it, and I can imagine myself  re-reading this again and again, it really has become one of my favourites. Here’s why:
